Fact: Though grizzly bears rarely hurt man, their sometimes impulsive behavior should put everyone at warning. Just as with all things wild... and hairy and big... but especially ones with four inch claws, appropriate caution should be always be exercised. Visit the National Parks Conservation Association website for tips on how to avoid confronting bears. |
Fact: The hump on the grizzly's back is actually muscle that enables it to be such an effective digger, quickly rooting up insects and roots or pursing an unfortunate gopher. Grizzly bears are very intelligent animals and have good memories. Their resourcefulness at finding food and remembering where sources of food can be found are excellent.
